Homework Due for January 31 Podcasts and 3 video's

These podcast that I watched came very interesting to me. I felt as if I could have been in a classroom or watching and listening in on a radio talk show. When the people were talking in the podcast, they broke down step on step on what they were explaining and talked about how things worked. It's almost like they went through every detail possible that could help you learning on how to use the tools of technology. I think podcast are great ideas for learning and helping with the technology being used in today's society.

I really enjoyed the the MacBreak Weekly podcast the best because having a mac myself, I would really relate to what what being said. In many of the MacBreak Weekly podcast, it talked about all kinds of apple stuff and the new things coming out such as the IPad; am a big apple person, and I love learning about the new technology things that apple has to offer for us. The podcast explains on how the Mac works and talks through all of the things the Mac does. Instead of going to sit in a classroom, I think listening in to the podcast could really help with the learning of the Mac.

The podcast I really didnt enjoy the most was probably the SmartBoard Lessons Podcast. I really just couldn't comprehend it as much as I did to the other podcast. I felt as if it didn't explains and stay on track as much. I just didn't like the lay out of the podcast and how the people were presenting it.

To sum these podcast up, I really think these podcast are great ideas and I hope these will grow larger into our future. Technology is always growing and is making room for new things everyday. Listening to podcast can really help you understand clearly on what is being taught or said and I believe is a great way on learning new things.

Mrs.Cassidy's Classroom Blog
I was really impressed when I saw this video. These kids have had the right teachings from the educators for them to be able to use this technology like this. This really shows how it is changing and the things we will except to see in the future. Before I took this class, I had no idea about blogs or anything but after watching this video its not only me learning but its kids all over the world learning this new technology.

Little Kids..Big Potential
These kids are very bright for their age. I can not believe kids are using these works and applying themselves to the technology like this. It really shows a point to where kids these days will have a bright and strong future ahead of them. I really like how each students knows a lot of their blog and how to use it. Blogs are an important tool now in learning. They are not only learning on the computer but they are teaching themselves new things.

IPhone used by 1 year old baby Part 2
I still wonder if this baby really understands what he is doing. Having a touch screen in my opinion makes things a lot easier to comprehend and you can see clearly what is being done. Being a 1 year old, your really not understand a lot of things more than less an iphone but I am impressed that he did know how to use it and what it took to look through the iphone.

A Vision of Students Today

This video caught my attention real fast and I related to this video the entire time I was watching it. Every fact that the students held up on paper or the laptop, I believe is true in todays society. Do the teachers realize the things and the information that they are teaching us? Sometimes I even wonder why I am learning this or why do I need this information in my life. This video really does capture my college experience because I have been in some classes that I wonder what am I going to do with the information when I get older. Every student has questions about a subject in school but are the students reaching out and asking the questions? You will here from many people that its your own fault for nothing learning the material or paying attention but what are the teachers doing to get our attention. Are they just teaching to teach, or do they have a purpose and point to get across to us as students. I could add some of my experiences to this video by putting that I pay attention more to my text messages or Facebook in class than the teachers. Also, I do lots of homework for my classes and the teachers don't even check to see if its right or not.

It's Not About The Technology

Kelly Hines had some great points in her article and I understand a lot of her ideas clearly. What would be the point of having technology if it isn't being used right or not being taught correctly? You can't just give technology to teachers that aren't willing to use it to its power because then it becomes a waste of time and money for the students as well as the teachers. I also agree that learning and teaching are not the same thing. If a teacher is teaching something or getting a point across and the students doesn't respond or understand, then there is no learning involved. Now I do have one thing to say about it's not all about the technology. I do believe that we need to start learning and realizing that technology is going to be very important in the future and that technology might even be the new learning. We need to start learning and teaching technology so that we can be prepared for the things ahead of us.

I believe that if teachers are going to use the technology, they need to understand the importance of it so that when its being taught, the students will benefit from it. I am a big technology person and i believe if technology is used in its right way, there can be many wonders that we had no idea even existed.

Is It Okay To Be A Technologically Illiterate Teacher?

In my opinion I don't think it is okay for teachers to be technologically illiterate. Technology is an important part of learning and without learning there is no teaching. I agreed with what the list had to say about the standards and rules that teachers should have. The thing that caught my eye the most was the last thing said in the list. We really need to stop being so nice and start becoming strict on the material and how the technology is being used for our students. Learning shouldn't be just a go through and get our process. This isn't helping our kids and children to become successful and it's not teaching them anything more or less. I feel like if you are technologically illiterate than you shouldn't be a teacher because technology these days plays an important role in learning and without learning, we will get no where in life.

Gary's Social Media Count

After looking over the Social Media Count, there actually are some issues for me in my career path. My major is in Physical Education and i plan on being a high school coach and teaching P.E classes. After looking over the media count, I noticed a lot more kids using Facebook, Twitter, watching YouTube videos, and texts messaging being sent. This is a problem for me because if these kids are always using this technology, when is there time to be physically active? Staying on the computer or playing video games can be a problem because the kids are getting no physical activity what so ever and aren't looking out for their healthy needs. Facebook can be addicting as we all know, but physical activity is needed for the health of your body and if you are using all your free time inside on the computer and using the cell phone, health issues can start to show as in obesity. As the facts show, the United States population of obesity as increased and this Media Count could have showed where some of the problems are.

Did You Know?

The video Did You Know showed me some very interesting facts that I had no idea were even true. It really made you think about the world today and the types of technology that is being used. The information shared was the kind of information that no one really even thinks about or never even knew. I like towards the ending when it said durning this video 694,000 song were downloaded and 67 babies were born in the United States. How do people even know that and how long did it take them to figure stuff like this out? It amazes me that we as humans have the brains and skills to do anything that we put our mind too.

Mr. Winkle Wakes

I really enjoyed watching this video because all of it makes so much since and explains the world of how it has changed. Mr Winkle was in shock when he realized how much has changed. Never in 100 years would people think of having computers, cell phones, ipods, printers, or even cars for that matter. The brain has allowed we as humans to go beyond the normal thinking and has pushed us to bigger and better ideas. Mr Winkle was amazed by all of the new technology that was built and how people knew what to do with it all. After going and visiting the classroom, he did realize that the technology might have changed, but the teaching hasn't. I do agree that teachers and students really haven't changed, but what has changed the most is the technology that we use in the classroom and outside of it.

The Importance of Creativity

Mr. Robinson made some great points in his speech and many that i agree with. Creativity is just as important as any type of learning that is being learned. Without creativity what do we as humans have? Creativity is a gift to many people so why not use it and why should it be looked down upon? Education is based on lots of academics and not enough creativity. Many students and children are left out when everything is about academics and not the creativity or the talent that they have. Its very hard the learn something your whole life if you can't enjoy other ways of learning or showing your talent on different levels. Creativity should play an important role in the everyday learning of student and children.

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

In this video, I really like the fact that the students were learning in different ways than a teaching just sitting up in front of a class and giving a lecture. All of the tools and technology being used showed a great way of learning. The skills that these kids are learning will carry on through their entire life and I believe that these tools are necessary and very important. The students are able to connect with people outside of their norm and are experiencing new things. This type of learning is a great way to learn in my opinion. The students aren't the only ones learnings too. The teachers are getting the experience as well and I believe that when teachers and students both are learning, then the learning process works with great wonders.
